AGGRESSIVE DRIVING
Aggressive driving including tailgating, speeding and improper lane
changing is a safety issue for drivers worldwide. Aggressive driving
can refer to any display of aggression by a driver. Incidents of
aggressive driving are defined as events in which an angry or impatient
driver tries to kill or injure another driver after a traffic dispute.
Often, aggressive driving is used to describe more extreme acts of
physical assault that result from disagreements between drivers.
Aggressive driving are unlawful driving actions. It includes improper
passing, speeding, and improper or excessive lane changing. An
aggressive driver fails to consider the human element involved. The
anonymity of being behind the wheel gives them a false sense of control
and power.
Aggressive driving habits can threaten your safety, the safety of your
passengers and other driving on the road. Most people drive
aggressively from time to time and many drivers are not even aware when
they are doing it.
Roadway congestion is a factor that tends to worsen aggressive driving
behaviors. This congestion often causes drivers to become frustrated
which unfortunately lead to a harsh, high-risk driving style.
Aggressive drivers often commit multiple violations from their unsafe
driving environment through their inconsiderate, self-centered driving
habits. These violations may include signaling lane changes improperly,
following too closely, driving over the posted speed limit, and failing
to obey traffic control devices.
There are many different approaches as to the cause of aggressive
conduct. Biological theories consider aggressive actions to be innate
although specific responses can be modified by experience. Man’s
natural competitive instinct can also be a factor in offensive
behavior. Some drivers respond to being overtaken by another vehicle as
a challenge.
All these behaviors are worsened by the stress and time pressure of
modern life. Above all, we always see media portrayals of hostile
driving shown in a fun context such as car chases in films and video
games.
Dealing with road rage and aggressive drivers involves patience and the
ability to remain calm. All of the aggressive driving patterns can lead
to road rage or the kind of highway madness that has drivers engaging
in physical fights or using their vehicles to collide with other
drivers, sometimes forcing them off the road.
When you find yourself in stressful driving environment calm down and
relax. Be courteous, considerate and content. An aggressive state of
mind will come through in your driving behavior and affect not only
your safety but also of others.
