AUTO ACCIDENT HEALTH INSURANCE PROVIDER ATTORNEY
The rise in health care costs is forcing many hospitals to scrape for
every penny. As a result, some hospitals are laying claim to portions
of consumers' auto liability insurance settlements in order to recover
payment for services rendered.
After a car accident you may be entitled for compensation from your
Auto Accident Health Insurance Provider Attorney. In the event of a
personal injury sustained in an auto accident, you could ask your own
health insurer to pay for medical treatment. Sometimes, private health
insurance policy plans or HMOs require you to seek recovery from your
auto insurance company before it will pay or provide for your medical
treatment.
An individual insured in an automobile accident could only obtain
compensation for their health insurance provider treatment from the car
insurer if they could show that another individual caused the accident.
This policy was applicable before January 1, 1975.
Those individuals who could show that another party was negligent and
therefore liable for their injuries could only receive compensation by
bringing a lawsuit against the negligent party. Often, lawsuits took
months or years for the non-negligent party to receive payment for
their medical, and wage loss benefits. Thus, nearly all payments to the
treating doctors were paid, through health insurance provider or cash
payment from the patient.
Hospitals have every right to receive payment for services rendered and
can come after you if you or your health insurance provider hasn’t paid
your bills. In fact, some Medicare plans allow doctors and hospitals to
bill you over and above what Medicare normally pays.
If you were injured in an auto accident that was not your fault and
were admitted to the hospital because you sustained moderate injuries
you have to tell the admissions personnel that your injuries are the
result of an auto accident and you have health insurance. Your health
insurance provider picks up the tab for you and the hospital is
supposed to consider payment from the insurance policy provider as full
reimbursement.
If your health insurer and the health insurance providers agree on a
payment schedule, even if those fees are at a discount, the health
insurance providers can't seek reimbursement from you, once they've
been paid by your health plan.
You don’t have to give your health insurance provider a payment when
you receive a liability settlement after a car accident. This is if
your health insurance company and the hospital have an arrangement on
how services will be paid.
