MALFUNCTIONING TRAFFIC LIGHTS
One common cause of car accidents is the malfunctioning of traffic
lights. Traffic lights give us the right path whether to go or not to
go on the street. It gives guidance to drivers enabling the traffic
free from hassles. It also organizes the street and highways.
Many cases of car accidents are recorded because of the malfunctioning
traffic lights. Most of motorcycle drivers had this very problem
dealing with traffic lights. They just keep experiencing the
malfunctioning of traffic lights. They keep on waiting for the right
light to turn into the next color. This happens when the actuating
sensors of the motorcycle aren’t picking up. The basic problem here is
that mostly traffic signal sensors aren’t geared to pick up
motorcycles. Unlike with cars, they tend to pick up but not to
motorcycles.
The primary reason to this is the mass of the vehicle. It has something
to do with the capacity of the vehicle. Normally, these traffic light
sensors is composed of wire loops surrounded in the pavement that
detect metal — specifically, ferrous metal, like steel. Based for
example, a 2,500-pound car arrives, there are lots of metal to detect.
But when a motorcycle rolls up — especially a motorcycle with its
wheels, frame and motor mostly made of aluminum and bodywork formed
from plastic — the sensors may never be aware that a vehicle has
arrived. Then right after, you are now stuck in the road, waiting for
the light to turn.
The main reason why motorcycles are not detected by these sensors is
because many highway departments don’t get aware to fix the settings of
these sensors. These types of sensors in traffic lights come with
sensitivity adjustments that can make them work for motorcycles.
When you are experiencing a malfunctioning of traffic lights, it is
better to call a traffic maintenance expert. By this, they can help you
calibrate the sensors of your motorcycles. You can state your problem
with them. If you don’t like to ask for assistance, there are also
things you can do. If in case the light won’t change its color, try to
look down and search for the cuts in the pavement, through this you can
locate the sensor wire. Then place your motorcycle directly over one
side. If it does not work, you can make a legal right turn on red, then
look for some place to turn around, this would able you to be on the
current road you’re turning.
